Lot of core drivers for vista/7/8 show that date. I kind of thought something was funny since it was operating at speeds above USB 2.0 and the driver said XHCI, I guess the date made me think it was an old driver, but you're right a Mark - Thanks for the info, that blog post is really informative. Steven - Thanks for the link, I just registered and will send the feedback when I get home. Just thought I would post in case anyone else's USB ports are behaving strangely - these Etron USB controllers seem to be getting more popular. Install the driver, however (I will choose, have disk, etc.) everything works great.įor reference I'm using a Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 motherboard. Trying to use the driver installer setup.exe did not work and only broke the USB ports until a restart upon which Windows went back to the old driver. The driver installed under device manager saidĮXtensible Host Controller but also said USB 1.0 and the driver date was from 2006. I thought it was odd that it had drivers for it (Win 7 does not) but I figured it was a perk of a newer OS. Turns out the developer preview installed the wrong drivers for my Etron USB 3.0 chip. ![]() I was having issues where once you've safely removed a drive, Windows thinks it's still connected and if you plug it in on the same port it won't work, on a different port it will work but then won't let you safely remove it (it's greyed out in the menu).
